I only knew college through god awful 2000s comedies and my parents, so going into it I was fully prepared for heavy and awful textbooks and paper tests. Everything was digital now. I never got on vyvanse (purely because I kept forgetting to schedule my appointment to get prescribed) so this became a very genuine sticking point in my education. I struggled, and only managed to get by spending hundreds of dollars on print outs and physical text books in lieu of the digital ones we were provided. It was the summer before my junior year and in a fit inspired by the scorching Phoenix heat and my roommates insistence we keep the AC at a sweltering 80 to “save money” I decided to read Ulysses. I bought the physical copy, but I struggled because man is that book DENSE. I ended up finding this copy. While the in text annotations were nice, as I was reading I found that my eyes stayed put and I could just focus and fly through the words. I realized that the changed text helped my eyes focus and I could read for the first time a digital file effectively.
