I am just the right amount of old and Texan that I was 15 years old when I first heard of the idea of a book being online. Reading was something to be done on paper, and the only digital reading I ended up doing was for minecraft youtube videos. I remember one year my mom got a kindle, like the really really old ones that still had the buttons. She used it for about a month before sending it off to the garage where it could mingle with the other discarded purchases that form the bedrock of suburban society. School was all pen and paper back then, our readings were stripped out of printed out tests or the 3 decade old textbooks that sat snugly underneath our desk. I dont want to pretend I fell victim to my conservative surroundings, I was not an avid reader. When I was about 9 years old I got a kindle of my very own (mine was way cooler though I had one that was entirely touchscreen) and the first thing I did with it was download youtube and about 400 minecraft rip off games. I was set in my ways and would go into anaphylactic shock if I had to alter my schedule in even the slightest ways.
