The pandemic was all things considered a good time for me. Growing up and moving into highschool I became more aware of my surroundings, but I didnt read the news, I got all my information from whatever I overheard my dad being flabbergasted over on any given day. I remember during the spring break of my sophomore year hearing rumblings of some virus in China. Then Italy. Then spring break got extended by a week, which I was more than ecstatic for, my AP history class was taking its pound of flesh and I was dreading the thick packets that made up our DBQ’s. Then we got another two weeks off which was all the better for me I got to throw more hours into a time sink and ignore the fact that my body was decreasingly feeling like mine. There is a reason that the longest break outside of summer is 2 weeks long. I think thats the maximum amount of time the body can handle “eventually.” My school tried to rip the band-aid off early, but by then my sense of time had eroded and I hadnt left the house in days. Sophomore year was finished on my computer. I struggle a lot with reading especially on a computer I have found workarounds (we will touch on those later dont worry John) but overwhelmingly my eyes just dart around. Thankfully I didnt need to confront that weakness as the work that was given to us was put together very slapdash and quite frankly no one cared. We would be back by the end of summer anyway.
